Medior Java Engineer
For a large Dutch bank we are looking for a Medior Java Engineer who will join a business critical Consumer Portal team. You will work on a high impact digital platform that supports and digitises complex customer processes. The solution is widely used and central to the organisation’s digital strategy.
You will work on-site at the client, but you will be employed by Solid Professionals for the duration of the assignment. It is essential that you are currently residing in the Netherlands.
The role is part of a long running transformation programme expected to continue for at least two to three years, offering technical depth and continuity.
This is what you will do
As a Medior Java Backend Engineer you are one of the core engineers within the Consumer Portal team. You primarily work on the existing production application and on the changes required for ongoing transformation initiatives.
Your responsibilities include:
- Further developing and maintaining the consumer portal
- Implementing changes driven by transformation programmes and other change initiatives
- Building new features and improving existing functionality
- Analysing and resolving incidents and bugs in the production environment
- Translating requirements into robust backend solutions together with engineers, the Product Owner and other business stakeholders
- Contributing to performance, stability and reliability improvements
- Ensuring proper monitoring, logging and production insights
- Taking end to end ownership of your changes, from refinement to production and aftercare
- You are not expected to define the overall architecture. Senior engineers and chapter leads set the technical direction. You are a strong individual contributor who can independently pick up and deliver substantial pieces of functionality.
Technical environment and stack:
- Backend: Java and Spring Framework
- Data and integration: SQL databases and event driven architecture with Kafka
- Run and operations: Monitoring and logging tooling, working according to DevOps and “you build it, you run it” principles
What we ask
You have several years of experience as a Java backend engineer and are comfortable operating independently within an Agile team. You have solid hands on experience with Java and Spring in a professional environment and understand how to work with relational databases and SQL. Experience with Kafka or other event driven solutions is a strong plus.
Equally important are your communication skills and mindset. You listen carefully, understand the core of a question and adapt your explanation to your audience. You explain technical topics differently to a Product Owner than to a fellow engineer. You answer the question that is asked and are able to clearly articulate your motivation, expectations and boundaries.
You take ownership of your work, proactively address risks and issues and collaborate effectively within an international team. We are not looking for a junior who needs intensive guidance, nor for a senior architect. You are a solid medior engineer who can deliver independently and work well with others.
You speak and write English fluently. Dutch is not required. You must be residing in the Netherlands.
Benefits
- Assignment at a large Dutch bank within a business critical digital environment
- Long term programme context with at least two to three years of expected continuity
- International Agile team
- Salary between 4,500 and 5,000 EUR per month, all in, depending on experience
- Employment via Solid Professionals for the duration of the assignment
