Junior Credit Risk Expert
Are you passionate about risks, models and data? 📈 Curious how banks actually assess whether someone can repay a loan? As a junior credit risk expert, you’ll dive into the world of credit risk and contribute to decisions that truly matter. You’ll apply your analytical mindset at organisations like ING, de Volksbank or a.s.r., and develop yourself both professionally and personally.
This is what you'll do
As a junior credit risk expert, you’ll help build models that determine how much risk banks take when issuing credit. These models play a key role in major decisions – from pricing and credit approval to stress testing and climate risk. You’ll be hands-on with the content: analysing data, contributing to model structure and challenging underlying assumptions.
Right from the start, you’ll get the opportunity to take ownership of parts of the development process. You'll learn how banks make data-driven decisions and how your insights support financial stability and strategic direction.
Your exact tasks will depend on your role and the organisation you work for. But you can expect projects like:
- Performing data quality analyses for risk models and advising on improvements.
- Using programming languages like Python, SQL or SAS to structure and analyse datasets.
- Contributing to the structure, validation and documentation of credit risk models.
- Designing creative solutions for complex risks – including models that account for climate impact.
- Translating technical analyses into clear insights for stakeholders such as risk managers or regulators.
What you bring
- A (nearly) completed Master’s degree in Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics or a related quantitative field. Knowledge of finance is a big plus.
- Experience with or interest in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL or SAS.
- A strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and a structured way of working.
- The ability to clearly communicate your insights to colleagues from various backgrounds.
- Currently based in the Netherlands and are available full-time.
