Junior Actuary

Are you (almost) done with your Master’s in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Econometrics? And are you excited to work on risks, models and challenges that truly matter to society? 📊 Dive into topics like an ageing population, longevity risk and affordable insurance. You’ll work for an insurer or pension fund, learn from experienced actuaries and quickly take on your own responsibilities. A role with real impact – on yourself and the world around you.

What you’ll do

As a junior actuary, you’ll help build, test and improve models that are essential for risk management and policy decisions. You’ll work on topics like mortality rates, longevity risk, premium calculations and solvency. You'll collaborate closely with actuaries, risk managers and other specialists, and contribute to decision-making at the management level. Your exact tasks depend on the organisation you’ll work with, but here’s what you can expect:

  • Designing, testing and improving actuarial models for life insurance or pension products.
  • Analysing risks and translating complex data into clear insights.
  • Supporting reporting processes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to implement model changes effectively.
  • Explaining what models do, why they matter and how they impact society.

💥 Bonus: you can combine this traineeship with the Executive Master of Actuarial Science (EMAS) at the Actuarieel Instituut – the perfect foundation for your career as an actuary.

What you bring

  • A (nearly) completed Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Econometrics or Quantitative Finance.
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
  • Experience with or interest in modelling and programming languages like Python, R or VBA.
  • You’re able to clearly communicate your insights to colleagues across different areas of expertise.
  • Currently based in the Netherlands and available full-time.
